Over the past few months I have gotten a few emails asking me what I do to SEO my Wordpress sites. Well it really is pretty simple. I have basically used three different Wordpress plugins to SEO my sites. Two of these plugins work together to ensure that my meta tags are written correctly. The other plugin is used to make sure my site is being picked up by Google.

Plugin #1 - Ultimate Tag Warrior

This is probably the best plugin I have seen to date for tagging your articles and content. In order to effectively SEO your Wordpress site you will need some sort of tagging plugin. Ultimate Tag Warrior allows displays the tags you associate with your post. The plugin can display a long-tail histogram of your top 150 tags. I like UTW because you have the option of displaying a tag cloud on your page (you can sort by the most popular first or by alphabetical). To find out more about this plugin please click here! You may also wish to get the Tag Cloud widget for UTW if you want a tool that is easy to use for displaying your tag clouds!

Plugin #2 – wpSEO

The wpSEO plugin is perfect for getting your sites meta tags ready for the search engines. The wpSEO plugin rewrites your blog title, META-description, META-keywords and META-robots so these are more user and search engine friendly. You have the ability to select how your description is pulled from your homepage, your static pages and your articles. wpSEOP is great because it allows you to use your UTW tags for your meta keywords. Plugin #3 - Google Sitemaps

The Google Sitemaps plugin basically updates and rebuilds the XML file everytime you make a new post and then ping’s google to tell them about it. The more you publish the more you will actually be cached by google. To find out more about this plugin please click here!

Don’t stress yourself out by uploading 10 different plugins for SEO. These three should do the trick.

I got an email from Mike Filsaime telling me that he was going to be on a future episode of the Next Internet Millionaire. So based on his recommendation I decided to go to the site and watch an episode to really see what all of the hype was about. I watched episode 2 which featured special guest Armand Morin. Armand is an actual internet millionaire who is known to a lot of people in the internet marketing world.

So what about the episode? The episode started with the Hacker Safe challenge. The competitors had to blog about a topic they randomly selected. Charles won the challenge even thought he “wasn’t really familiar with blogs”. Then Armand gave a quick talk to the competitors on the subject of branding. After the competitors gained some useful insight from Armand they went through a challenge to create a logo for the Next Internet Millionaire. Kiss ended up losing the challenge and Steve and Laura were picked as two members who would leave their team and become targeted for elimination and sandboxed.

So what do I think about the show? Well it’s a cool show that helps drive awareness to the field of internet marketing. People begin to understand that being an internet marketer isn’t that easy and that there is a lot of work that goes on behind the scenes when building and launching a product. I am actually looking forward to watch the Filsaime episode.

As we all know the internet marketing field is very competitive. The big boys in the internet marketing community are very friendly and tend to work together to further each other’s careers. This show definitely shows that. The show is used to showcase the giants in the internet marketing field (Filsaime, Morin etc.). If you go to the website you will see that Armand Morin’s next seminar is being promoted. The visitors of the website are also being pushed to purchase a home based business product for $37.00 so you can become a member insider.

I really enjoyed the show and will keep watching the episodes to come.

I am starting to wonder why so many internet marketers use Clickbank to collect payment from their customers. I use their service because they basically take care of everything that has to deal with payment for my sites. They take care of customer refunds as well as payment owed to my affiliates. Sure this may sound all fine and dandy but at the end of the day Clickbank is the proud owner of 7% of my entire business. That’s right Clickbank takes 7% of all revenues generated from my sites.

If Clickbank actually took the time to review all refund requests I wouldn’t mind them taking their cut. After all they do provide a great market place for affiliates to find my products. When a customer purchases a product with Clickbank a message is attached to their invoice. The message notifies the customer that all you need to do to get a refund is forward this invoice to an email address.

Refunds are part of any business right. People are always returning something they just purchased. You may think that this is the case. But I bet that most of the people who get refunds still have the product they purchased. So they are essentially getting a product for free. With Clickbank it is extremely easy to purchase an ebook download it to your computer and then get a refund.

If you have an initial list of affiliates who can push your product then Clickbank is great. Once you gain credibility and get a high enough Clickbank gravity your product should attract new affiliates because of Clickbank’s marketplace.

For now I will continue to use Clickbank as my payment processor because I really don’t think there is anything better out there.

I want to touch on the major problems people tend to have when trying to run an online business for the first time. Most people have a preconceived notion that they will get rich quick by creating a product or by becoming an affiliate marketer. The truth is most gurus out there make it real tough for any one new to the industry to get a strangle hold on a specific market (ie. the home based business market). After all most of the top gurus work together and share each other’s success. In fact these so called gurus even hold seminars together to teach the “newbies” how they made their millions.

The fact is that most people who attend these seminars end up spending thousands of dollars and are getting information that they can get online for free. Another mistake people make is that people often become very one tract minded. Although seminars can be great most gurus tell you that you can become successful if you follow a set of rules or techniques that they have laid out for you. Most people stick to these rules and eventually hit a roadblock. For example: your sales conversions may be too low or you might break the bank trying to get traffic to your website. Most people generally become stressed out because they don’t know what to do when they hit this brick wall.

Most people get discouraged and give up after their first product doesn’t sell. Well let me tell you if you have finished creating a product and have written a great sales page you are actually ahead of the game. Most people don’t even get that far. A lot of people tend to get overwhelmed with the amount of material on a specific subject and don’t even get as far as putting a finished product together.

Remember a few very important words of advice. If you want to get into the internet marketing field you can’t be afraid of failure. In this business you have to fail many times in order to succeed. Don’t get discouraged by trying all the scams and get-rich-quick programs on the net. Do your research and figure out what works and what doesn’t.
